The Spinal cord is a bundle of nerves that runs from the base of the brain down the back. Spinal Cord Injury occurs when there is damage to the spinal cord from an injury or a disease process. It's an extremely serious type of physical trauma that's likely to have a lasting and significant impact on most aspects of daily life. SCI often causes permanent changes in strength, sensation and other body functions below the site of the injury. There are two kinds of spinal cord injury - complete and incomplete.
