Traumatic brain injury often referred to as TBI, is an injury to the brain caused by a blow to the head or a penetrating head injury that disrupts the normal function of the brain. There are many possible causes, including car or motorcycle crashes, falls, sports injuries, and assaults with or without a weapon. The severity of symptoms will depend on which part of the brain is affected, whether it is in a specific location or over a widespread area, and the extent of the damage.
